Sha-Hanna Soaper has an eclectic combination of personal and professional experiences built on a foundation of passion, service, and zest for living life. A part of her life’s mission is to “live a life that is much greater than one’s self” because she believes that impact and intellectual contributions affect the trajectory of others' lives and outlive one's own limited lifespan.

Sha-Hanna’s educational background includes attending Indiana University – Bloomington to complete her Bachelor of General Studies with minors in Kinesiology and Fitness Instruction.

She has also earned two credentials in business, including a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern Indiana and a Technical Certificate in Business Administration from Ivy Tech of Indiana. Sha-Hanna is the Co-Owner of Soaper Home Renovation & Design LLC. A private real estate investment agency focused on bringing dilapidated properties back to life. The company’s mission is to serve homeowners and beautify communities via the process of purchasing, renovating, and selling properties.

She is licensed in real estate, certified in personal training, and most recently, certified as a Vegan Lifestyle Coach and Educator with a Plant-Based Nutrition certificate from eCornell University.

Outside of education, Sha-Hanna has an extensive volunteer and service background associated with several organizations. Most recently she served as a volunteer Board Director with Indiana's first farmed animal sanctuary, volunteered for a central Indiana based mentoring program predominantly serving African American males, and participated in building a home with Habitat for Humanity. Through these experiences, she has broadened her consciousness and advanced her leadership skills in a myriad of ways. But most importantly she has served to have a meaningful impact in several communities.

She is also a proud alumna of AmeriCorps - serving two terms of national and community service with this organization in Chicago, IL, and Indianapolis, IN. During these commitments, she underwent extensive hands-on nonprofit and for-profit organizational management training. While serving in these capacities, she assisted non-profit organizations with capacity building, and asset-based community development, while serving as a youth mentor.

Since 2015, Sha-Hanna has specifically worked in higher education with community college students. Her specific role is the Assistant Director of the Honors College at Ivy Tech; she is also classified as adjunct faculty. In her primary role, she builds unique relationships with students statewide (and beyond) through personal, academic, career, and transfer advisement. Her responsibilities range from advising to recruitment, onboarding, event planning, facilitating Transfer seminars, grant and budgetary management for special projects, graduation, and more.

She feels that one of the most exciting and rewarding aspects of this position is to help guide students through the completion of an associate’s degree while also assisting them with the application processes to 4-year schools.

In her Transfer Seminar, students have been accepted to their dream schools -Cornell University, Harvard University, American University, University of California Los Angeles, Wellesley College, and Clark Atlanta University among several others; she is deeply inspired and fulfilled by their grit, accomplishments, and transition to the 4-year institution.

Also fulfilling in ways she could have never imagined, is her life dedicated to veganism. After being inspired by her wife, who shared the documentary, “What the Health?”, she began discovering and digging into what she felt was a “secret world”. Sha-Hanna has studied veganism and plant-based eating extensively via medical research journals, numerous readings, documentaries, Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine, Main Street Vegan Academy in New York, and through several organizations dedicated to the vegan lifestyle. She knew her heart and spirit were forever changed and aligned.

Her passions for veganism and experiences in education and diversity came together and inspired her to publish an early learner’s book, "Let's Groove and Count Your Food!". Sha-Hanna’s most recent project in veganism is the development of her own original methodology, "The 4T's to Veganism" - a blueprint for transitioning to a vegan lifestyle.

Aside from her mother, her greatest supporter is her loving wife Tiffany, with whom she loves traveling - especially to Southern California, watching psychological thriller movies, and creating delicious vegan meals together. She also enjoys spending time with her cat (Mickey) of 15 years and spent 18 years in companionship with her Miniature Schnauzer, Eric Jonathan.

Sha-Hanna also finds that engaging in activities like riding her bike, dancing, appreciating the arts, and having new experiences are liberating – requiring her to live consciously and gratefully in the present – which she welcomes with open arms.
